Weaknesses of the Case Study Approach
There are different methods of conducting an investigation or research. These methods are often dependent on the objectives that a researcher wants to achieve at the end of the investigation or find something about assignment help. Case studies are a popular form of research whereby an examination is done about a situation, person, or event. A case study approach favors a research project undertaken in the area, group, or case over a given time frame. Specific parameters must be met to realize this. By the nature of the requirements, the approaches limit one for failure to meet the needs you are likely not to have the most accurate results. When embarking on a research project, one expects to attain the desired results, which will help in the project’s success. It is always advisable to have or choose a flexible research method. Some demerits of the case study have been raised some include;
- Long analyses duration
When deciding on which research method to use, one must consider the time factor. The approach must be time considered to avoid late submissions. In the case study approach, one must have time on their side to carefully analyze the samples or views collected from the target group. This fact automatically rules out any research project whose results have a fixed deadline.
- Labour intensive
The method requires one to be physically present to collect the samples for the research project. The success of the approach is highly dependent on the samples collected. Researchers are fully involved in this as they must gather and enter the collected data for straightforward analyses.
- It is expensive
Due to the demanding nature of the approach, many resources are directed to help realize the desired outcome. The data collection is the most tedious and still resource-draining stage of the procedure. The researcher will have to sacrifice time to ensure the data is rightly collected or hire skilled human resources to aid in the process, which can be expensive.
- Highly likely to be inefficient
An approach that requires the participation of a large group of people has a higher chance of not succeeding. Some people can sabotage the process by failing to deliver on their end. This being a stage to stage approach, failure for one to forget will automatically mean the next will fail as the success is pegged on the previous’ success.
- Generalization of data
In any given research method, data is essential as it is crucial to the research’s success. It is, therefore, necessary to have accurate data to work with. In the case study approach, it is not easy to achieve this due to the vast population. This is because the data is generalized, and assumptions made as to its very difficult to deal with as a person to person case.
In any given approach, one must make sure the results are the best and very accurate. When selecting any method, considerations should be made. The case study has proven its limitation, and one should not ignore them. If the research is not geographical, then the case study approach is not the best choice.
